I first heard this phrase during my junior year of college from a professor.
To me, simplicity is such a beautiful thing.
Now some may argue that certain technologies are complex. Parts of them may be. But I think what’s important – what’s everlasting – is simple.
To achieve simplicity, one could start by asking: “What’s important?” But it takes time to gain an intimate understanding of what simple really means. And by time I mean experience.
One anchor to simplicity is size. It seems to me that many organizations have scaling problems. Most want to grow and develop — be it sales, products, people, etc. But I think the larger an organization becomes, the simpler it must be.
Some may say that’s idealistic – that it’s not practical. They may be right. I’m not sure.
I’ll have to ponder this more.
